A MishMash, Including a Confession

Cleansing Pads

The Confession

I prefer to get the confession part out of the way first. Yesterday, I broke down and had someone come to deep clean my bathrooms and floors. She did a much better job than I could have and, I admit, I like that my house is really, truly clean.

So, um, yeah.

Thanks for the encouragement, by the way,to give myself permission to do so without feeling guilty about it.

Speaking of the Bathroom

And the master bathroom. Oh. My. Goodness. Crap. Everywhere. A year or so ago, I did a Phase 1 clean out of our bathroom. I filled 3 bags full of expired medications, almost empty shampoo bottles, sample makeup and perfume bottles, and other random stuff. So. Much. Crap. Now? I’s time for Phase 2.

In addition to straight forward decluttering, I’ve been thinking about ways to replace consumable items too. I want to replace items that would eventually end up in the land fill with reusable items that don’t. And we’ve got our first success story: Stephen and I both use cotton balls or cotton pads for various reasons. They get used once, usually with face cleanser items, and tossed in the garbage.

Because I knew there had to be an alternative and because we were almost out, I did some research online. I found these reusable organic cotton cleansing pads. They come with a little mesh bag to use in the washing machine. Super easy and we no longer buy cotton balls. Score.

They’re soft, reasonably priced, and work really well.

Picking Up the Pace

The last few weeks I’ve been moving slower than I’d like. (For this, I don’t feel guilty. Simply stating a fact.) I’ve got another charity scheduled to pick up this Saturday the stuff the last charity didn’t show up to collect. Then, I’ll be calling another one to come out and pick up some furniture , books and assorted other stuff.

That will help in whittling down the stuff in the garage and sunroom even further. I also feel like I need to get a bit more organized on my projects and the blog. It’s been kind of all over the place, which is actually a reflection of our journey. But, I’m not a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of gal and it’s kind of driving me crazy. I crave order. This weekend I’m going to map out for myself the path for the rest of the fall and winter.

Have a great weekend!
