The Minimalists

So, this happened:

Minimalists

Saturday night Stephen and I dropped the kids off at my parents and went to hear The Minimalists, Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus, read from their new book and conduct a Q&A as part of their book tour. It was so full we had to stand in the back along with a lot of other people. But it. was. amazing.

I read their book, Minimalism: Live a Meaningful Life when I was stuck in bed before my first back surgery in 2012. It had a profound impact on me and was one of the things that really resonated with me and kickstarted this whole thing.

Ryan started the evening recounting his experiences with minimalism. Then Joshua read from their new book, Everything That Remains.

Once the Q&A was over, we waited to get our book signed and get hugs from Joshua and Ryan, at their request. Yes, they really asked for people to stick around and give them hugs. The guys were funny, down to earth, and charming.

As we waited in line, it was interesting to note how diverse the audience was. Young, old, hippie, preppie, it didn’t matter. Their message appeals to a lot of people. And I totally get it.

I can’t wait to read the new book!

  1. I think these guys are brilliant and I am so excited as they are coming all the way to Melbourne (Australia) towards the end of this year on their tour and I am going to see them too! 🙂

Tell me, tell me...
