I wrote here about how I wanted to embrace gratitude this holiday season and practice it every day. So, in the spirit of that, here is what I am thankful for this week:
1. This Blog
I’m grateful for The Simple Year. It has forced me to do some really hard work and embrace the concept of simplicity. Even when I don’t want to. And I’m thankful for all of you that comment. Even when you push me and make me question myself. Personal growth is a good thing. It’s not always comfortable. Sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes I squirm. But that’s ok.
2. My Family
Not long ago, I was talking with the Boy about how I used to wear makeup everyday when I worked downtown. News flash: makeup is a rarity now. He called the time when I worked crazy hours “the bad time.” He said he liked it better now. I like it better now, too.
Hugs from my Girl. And the fact that she does math problems in a math workbook we got from the store. Just because she wants to. She’s pretty spunky that way.
Stephen. He’s a pretty supportive dude.
3. Eddie and Izzy
Even when they poop on my floor.
4. The Cooler Weather
It’s a relief to get a break from the heat.
5. Bikram Yoga
Sweat. Heat. Healing. Namaste.
6. Medical Care
I’m grateful for my medical care. Even though it’s obscenely expensive. And I really just want to be better already.
7. My Girlfriends
Girls I’ve known forever. Girls who are now amazing women. I need them. And am blessed to have them in my life. Some live near. Some live far. But regardless of distance, they’re with me always.
8. A Full Recycle Bin Instead of a Full Trash Can
‘Nuff said.
What are you thankful for?
